Let us understand with a little example that the relative minor scale of the “C major scale” is the “A minor scale”.

But how is this done? Let us learn through an easy way

Find the sixth degree of any major scale.

C major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B

Out of the 7 notes we see in the “C major scale“, the sixth note is A. From this we understand that the relative minor scale of the ” C major scale” will be “A minor scale.

Let’s look at another example.

G major scale: G, A, B, C, D, E, F#

Out of the 7 notes we see in the “G major scale“, the sixth note is E.

From this we understand that the relative minor scale of the ” G major scale” will be “E minor scale.

Always remember one rule, the relative minor scale of any major scale must have the same notes.

Example:

C major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B

A minor scale: A, B, C, D, E, F, G
